Medical Test & Counselling Process After Clearing Sainik Exam

Being selected in the Sainik School Entrance Exam is a proud moment for all the students and parents. But many have the idea that after the written test, the admission is secured. Actually, there are some few important steps till a student is admitted into a Sainik School.

Counselling and Medical Examination are two crucial steps following the written examination. The stages are designed to make sure that a student is a good fit for school and ready physically to attend a school where students live in a disciplined environment.

Knowing about these steps beforehand can help boost your confidence and prevent any last-minute confusion for you and your child if you are preparing for the Sainik School Entrance Exam.

COMPLETE PROCESS OF SAINIK COUNSELLING AND MEDICALS

Step 1: cLEARANCE OF SAINIK SCHOOL ENTRANCE EXAM

It starts with the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE). This examination is conducted every year and thousands of students appear for the examination, but only those who score an above cutoff marks proceed to the next stage.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) publishes the results and merit list after the exam. Students are shortlisted according to:

  • Marks from the entrance exam
  • Category of the reservation (if it exists).
  • A number of seats will be available.
  • Overall merit

The candidates who get shortlisted are only those who are eligible for counselling.

Step 2: Registering for e-counselling

The second step is to register for the e-Counselling. After the results are declared, the candidates have to go through the online counselling procedure. This is an important step as even if a student passes out the written test, admission will not be made without counselling. Students must log in online and enter their information accurately during counselling. They will also select the Sainik Schools they are interested in getting admission at.

The final seat allocation is based on:

  • Entrance exam rank Category
  • School preference
  • Availability of seats

This would be completed prior to the deadline to be able to secure admission; otherwise the parents may miss out on it as they will not be able to afford to miss out on the counselling schedule.

The following documents will be needed for counselling:

  • AISSEE Admit Card
  • AISSEE Score Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Residence Certificate
  • Transfer Certificate
  • School Mark Sheet
  • Any applicable Community Certificate (if applicable)
  • Income Certificate (if any)

Make sure that the notification asks for other documents; always read the instructions of the official notification carefully. It’s best to have all required documents in place before starting the counselling process.

Step 3: ALLOTMENT OF SEATS

After counselling registration is completed, the authorities allot seats to students. Seat allotment depends on multiple factors such as:

  • Merit Rank
  • Reservation Category
  • School Preferences
  • Available Seats

If a student receives a seat, it is considered a provisional allotment. This means admission is not yet confirmed. The student must successfully complete the medical examination before receiving final admission.

Step 4: MEDICAL EXAMINATION

One of the key components of the student’s admission process is the medical examination. This stage is frequently one of the most worrying ones for parents since they do not know what doctors check. The medical examination is intended to serve its purpose.

Sainik Schools are a disciplined institution with physical training, sports, outdoor activity and academics. So, pupils should be physically healthy enough to take part in these activities. This is typically carried out at specific Government Hospitals or recognised medical centres.

What is included in the medical exam?

A thorough medical examination is conducted to make sure that students are physically fit. The examination is not designed to be frightening, but to detect any medical condition which may need attention. A General Physical Examination and the Student’s overall health is initially assessed.

They examine:

  • Height
  • Weight
  • Body development
  • General physical fitness

If the child is underweight or overweight, doctors may recommend improvements based on the medical standards.
